The network, measured

Proxy providers publish pool sizes nobody can check. We publish what our gateway returned when we asked, with the date and the method.

The totals

214

countries and territories with exits

1,208

networks seen

211

countries with a data page

The per-country figures are on the 211 country pages.

How we measure

  1. 01

    Ask for every country

For every country and territory code we open connections with USER-country-xx. A code counts as available when an exit comes back.

  2. 02

    Sample the ones that answer

For countries with exits we open more connections, each one a new rotating connection, so each can leave from a different IP.

  3. 03

    Look up each exit

Every connection requests https://ipinfo.io/json through the proxy. The answer names the exit's IP, the network that announces it (its AS number), the city and the country.

  4. 04

    Check cities and networks separately

For the cities and networks we name we ask again with -city-name or -asn-number and check that the exits the lookup returns are in that city or on that network.
